Year 3 2025 - 2026
Welcome to Year 3 at All Saints Upton.
In Year 3 we lare continuing to develop our independence and personal resilience. We have so much fun learning new skills, practising old ones and learning about so many different, interesting topics. Look at our curriculum plan to see the topics we will be covering this half term.
The Year 3 teacher is Mrs Hughes and she is supported in class by Mrs McGlone, Farrow and Miss McDonald.
We use Seesaw to show what we have been learning in school, to set homework and to show copies of letters / announcements. Please make sure you have the Seesaw app downloaded to your phone so you can be kept up to date of things that are happening in school. We use Schoolhub for ordering dinners. This can be done in advance and parents / carers are expected to order before school, this includes packed lunches.
Please keep up to date with messages and updates showing the great things we are doing in school.
Key Information
PE
Our PE day at the moment is on a Wednesday and will be taught by Mrs Williams. Children will need to arrive in full PE kit on this day including trainers.
Homework
Homework is given out on a friday each week and will need to be returned the following Friday. The children will recieve their spellings, handwriting and times table practice in their homework packs. Times Tables Rock Stars and Spelling Shed logins are in your child's reading diaries. Our spelling test will take place on a Friday morning.
They should aim to practice on Spelling Shed and Times Tables Rockstars for about 30 minutes a week. We have a trophy for the children who participate most each week with the online games.
Reading
The children who are still completing the Read, Write, Inc Program will continue to bring home their books linked to the sounds they are covering that week. The other children will all have a book from the KS2 reading scheme. It is essential that they read every night to develop both their fluency and comprehension skills. In addition to their reading books, its important that the children read for pleasure too. For some children this will be reading themselves, other children can listen to an adult read to them. If you need to borrow a book from our class library, please pop in and choose at the end of the day.
Mrs Hughes's Tips To Extend Your Learning
- Use your times table rockstars app daily to build up table fluency.
- Use pickatale to read a range of texts along side your reading book.
- Edshed to practice weekly spellings and sounds.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs Hughes
